Staying Intentional in Your Relationship

Relationships are like plants, you need to nurture them in order for them to remain healthy and grow. It takes two in order for your love fern to survive. As you would say "it takes two to tango" or "it's a two-way street," you both need to be intentional in the relationship.

It is easy to get distracted by work, phones, and life. Take a moment away from those distractions to be present with your loved one. If you are both drained from a long day at work, pick a show and watch it over dinner. Instead of checking your social as you lay down for bed, talk with your spouse. Even if you have no energy after a long day, just being present with one another can help recharge your batteries.

If you feel like your love fern is wilting, then you guys need to discuss a game plan to regrow it. Do not play the blame game, because although you are two people, you are one in this marriage. Pointing fingers will only cause hurt feelings and delay growth.

Simple Ways of Showing You Care

  • Ask about their day

  • Cook dinner

  • Hold their hand

  • Listen to them when they need to talk something out

  • Random hugs & kisses

  • Reach out to them when it seems like they are stressed

  • Send encouraging messages throughout the day

  • Share with them your appreciation

Quality Time/ Date Nights

Whether it is just sitting at home having dinner together or having a date night, Bobby and I try to reconnect with one another after working long work weeks. Sometimes life gets so busy that we don't spend as much time with each other. We are so much happier after we spend some time together.

There are many different things that you can do with your significant other. You can go the fancy route of dressing up for a nice, upscale dinner. Or, you can go the simple route with dinner and a show in the living room. I thought I would add some other ideas for you guys that we have done or want to do. These include general date ideas that can be done anywhere and then I also included specific Atlanta date ideas.
